Things to Consider if Your Camping or RV Trip Starts with a Flight to your Camping DestinationIf you need to fly before you can start your camping adventure, you can follow these tips to make sure your feathered friend has the best flight possible. Check with the Airline Ask the airline what regulations they have for traveling birds. Not every airline allows birds, and some may have strict cage-size and other restrictions. Also, ask if the bird can be allowed in the cabin and if they have any rules about bird size or species. Identification It’s always smart to have your bird banded before you travel, especially if you’re going out of the country. Bring a health certificate and identification papers with you. Cage Outfit your bird with a cage that’s roomy enough for it to move around in. Pack food and water in no-spill containers and put plenty of toys or cuttlebones in the cage. Most birds travel best with a cage cover on. This will not only keep out drafts, but it’ll keep your bird’s view consistent during this potentially frightening experience. |
